Meet Oliver

To know Oliver is truly to love him. From the moment you meet him, his bright smile lights up the room. He is happiest when surrounded by people, whether he’s sharing hugs, playing alongside his friends, pretending to be an elephant, or dancing to his favourite music.

We were so excited to welcome Oliver to Hope’s Home in September 2025, and in the short time he has been with us, he has already made incredible progress.

Growing Stronger Every Day

Oliver’s determination is nothing short of incredible. He meets every challenge head-on, showing us each day just how strong and capable he is. He works hard to build his strength, develop his mobility, and grow his vocabulary, and his aunties and uncles at Hope’s Home are incredibly proud of everything he has accomplished.

Over the last six months, we have seen amazing progress toward Oliver’s goals. When he first arrived at Hope’s Home, his vocabulary was smaller, and he relied on support from his Developmental Worker, walker, or wheelchair to explore his surroundings.

Today, his words and signs have grown significantly, giving him more ways to communicate with the people around him. He now confidently crawls on his hands and knees, and he’s fast! When using his walker, Oliver has also become much more skilled at steering and navigating around the classroom, with far fewer “bumper car” moments.

As Oliver continues working hard to build his strength and mobility, his wheelchair no longer comes to daycare.

Therapy Through Everyday Play

Throughout his day at Hope’s Home, Oliver is always working toward his therapy goals. His Developmental Worker incorporates therapy into everyday activities and play, making these experiences as natural and comfortable as possible.

Even when an activity is challenging or uncomfortable, Oliver handles it like a true champ. He stays positive, keeps trying, and continues to show just how determined he is.

These everyday opportunities allow Oliver to work toward his developmental goals while still doing what children do best: learning, exploring, playing, and having fun with friends.

Sharing His Happiness

Beyond all of his incredible progress, it’s Oliver’s kind and loving personality that makes him so special.

He shows his affection

in so many ways, from happily saying “hi” when he hears someone enter the room to offering hugs to his friends and educators. Recently, Oliver reached another very special milestone when he started saying, “love you.” The first time he said it, he completely melted his Developmental Worker’s heart.

Although Oliver has only been at Hope’s Home for a short time, he has already formed strong and meaningful connections with those around him. The joy, warmth, and positivity he brings into the toddler room each day are truly special.

Oliver is rarely without a smile and can often be heard telling his Developmental Worker, “Happy.”

A Blessing for the Whole Family

For Oliver’s family, having access to inclusive Child Care where his medical and developmental needs can be supported has made a difference not only for Oliver, but for their entire family.

“Hope’s Home has been the biggest blessing for Oliver and our entire family. From day one, Oliver has been met with genuine love and acceptance from everyone on staff. Finding such a high level of care for Ollie and support for his development has not only helped him progress immensely, but it has also given us comfort and peace of mind. He absolutely loves being there and we couldn’t imagine our lives without Hope’s Home.”

Every new word, sign, movement, and connection is something to celebrate. We are so proud of how far Oliver has come and grateful to be part of his journey as he continues to grow, learn, and discover just how much he can do.

And through it all, Oliver gives everyone around him a beautiful reminder to see the world with the same joy and happiness that he does.
