Meet Maverick

At just two and a half years old, Maverick is full of personality and passion, especially when it comes to anything with wheels. Whether it’s cars, trucks, or bikes, his excitement and curiosity light up every room he enters.

Maverick has Coffin-Siris Syndrome, Global Developmental Delay, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Since joining Hope’s Home on September 9, 2024, he has made remarkable strides in his growth and development — especially in his physical abilities.

When Maverick arrived, he relied on AFOs, could only bum scoot to move around, and needed standing supports for even short periods of time. But with consistent daily support from his developmental workers, nurses, physical development consultants, and educators, his progress has been extraordinary.

Today, Maverick can:

• Stand up using furniture for support
• Walk with help, and has begun taking independent steps
• Use a walker with growing confidence
• Babble and communicate through signs like “More,” “Please,” “Thank You,” and “All Done”
• Eat most meals orally, relying on far fewer G-tube feeds

Each milestone has been a meaningful victory for Maverick and his family — steps many weren’t sure he would ever take.

His mom shares that without Hope’s Home, returning to work and supporting her family wouldn’t have been possible:

“Without Hope’s Home, I would not have been able to return to work and have any way to support my family financially. They have also worked with Maverick extensively to help him grow and develop with his peers.”

She describes the staff as nothing short of extraordinary:

“The staff goes above and beyond to support Maverick in his development daily. Every staff member at Hope’s Home makes a difference in Maverick’s day, and he LOVES attending daycare at this centre.”

And the results speak for themselves — Maverick is thriving. He’s still non-verbal but communicates beautifully in his own way. He is taking more independent steps every week, building strength, balance, and confidence that once felt out of reach.
